Facts and values

an islamic approach

Hassan Hanafi

pp. 161-170

Abstract

The apparent duality between facts and values, between description and evaluation, sein and sollen may insinuate a separation of the two. The conjunction "and" is just an external connection but it tends to suggest the separation. Moreover, this separation is legalized by the logical distinction between judgement of fact and judgement of value.
