In every perception there is a tacit normative pretense: when I perceive a dog, I believe that it is the case; say, that it is a dog for real. Thus, I spontaneously presuppose my perception to provide a true access to reality. This implicit normative claim not only guides the daily belief that reality is as I perceive it, but also every kind of judgment about reality in empirical sciences.
