Abstract

For an Indigenous person, the doctoral experience brings contrasting knowledge systems into relationship. Indigenous people involved in doctoral study will begin a deep relationship with the Academy. The Academy is not neutral; it has a history, a character, an identity. This identity is formed in the image of Europe and is Eurocentric in character and design.
