Prelude to a critical conversation with fellow pragmatists

Richard Bernstein

pp. 32-36

Abstract

I have consistently argued that the pragmatic tradition is enriched by the contribution of a plurality of voices.1 So I want to thank the contrib- utors to this symposium for engaging with my work. I am also grateful that several of the contributors explore some of my other writings on pragmatic themes. The essays in The Pragmatic Turn are like a series of snapshots or stills taken from over 50 years of dynamic engagement. I begin my responses with three general remarks.
