Abstract

Bentham gilt als Begründer des klassischen Utilitarismus. Mit der Entwicklung seines philosophischen Gedankengebäudes verfolgt Bentham nicht nur theoretische Ziele, er ist in hohem Maße auch an einer ethisch-praktischen Grundlage für Reformen der überkommenen gesellschaftlichen Institutionen seiner Zeit interessiert.
