Imagination and explanation in history

Peter Kemp

pp. 281-291

Abstract

The aim of this study is to clarify the role of imagination in and for explanation in the exploration and writing of history. Let me confess from the beginning that it is deeply inspired by the late French philosopher Paul Ricœur (1913–2005); but I am, of course, responsible for the structure of my presentation and the adaptation of his thoughts to my own project.
