Performance studies in Morocco has experienced a recent momentum through the establishment of the International Centre for Performance Studies, based in Tangier. The center is devoted to multidisciplinary research in performance studies at the national (Moroccan), Arab, and international level; dialogue and collaboration between artists and academics; the publishing of multilingual publications on theatre and performance studies; the organization of festivals, conferences, and workshops on theatre and performance studies; and the organization of the annual international forum, class="EmphasisTypeItalic ">Performing Tangier. The center focuses on a number of research fields, including Theatre, Diaspora, and Emigration; Performing Postcoloniality; Cultural Diversity and the Making of Spectacle; and Performance Studies between East and West.¹
