Abstract

In this chapter we briefly introduce the concept of intelligence from an evolutionary perspective tracing what is known about early human development, behavior and the brain. We review the vocabulary of intelligence, provide a brief framework outlining intellectual theory and introduce and provide an overview of this volume.
