Teachers often say that, during lessons, pupils reason wisely about how to act ethically and how to differentiate between good and bad, right and wrong. By contrast, when it comes to handling their relationships with others, wise reasoning does not always apply.In this chapter, 11 pupils, five aged 11 years and six aged 15 years, were interviewed about moral competence in school. They gave reasons why some abused each other and others did not. They also made suggestions about how to prevent pupils from abusing each other. Nussbaum and Lögstrup's theories are used to discuss the pupils' statements.
