An "iron curtain" between people

theoretical paradoxes in the writings of Gustav Ichheiser

Anna Schor-Tschudnowskaja

pp. 55-68

Abstract

In this chapter, the two concepts of Gustav Ichheiser, which occupy one of the central positions in his work—the concepts of unity and division—are analyzed at the interface between psychological and sociological considerations. In the second part of this chapter, interesting parallels to other sociological approaches, especially to Georg Simmel, and the two terms "unity" and "division," are presented and reviewed in the context of the classical sociology of modern society.
