Naturalism and the unity of science
pp. 191-199
Abstract
Naturalism as a view in epistemology and ontology insists that the unity of science is a crucial methodological postulate. However, naturalism encounters a serious difficulty, particularly in the humanities and social sciences. The difficulty in question is related to normativity as an essential feature of social and cultural phenomena. This paper argues that there is a possibility to meet the problem of normativity in frameworks of naturalism.
