Philosophy in today's Russia

contemplating the perspectives

Boris I. Pruzhinin

pp. 321-330

Abstract

Russian philosophy is currently in search of itself. Its condition can be described as open, incomplete, and varied… And this is all to the good, for the moment it hastens to assume a ready shape, most often one that was borrowed elsewhere, it congeals, becoming the servant of something else and losing a great deal of what became revealed to it in its searching. However, we are more concerned with just how aware it is of this searching, and also with the conceptualisation of the associated cultural and historical experience of Russian philosophy and a reflexive evaluation of its direction. This is the main problem of contemporary Russian philosophy. Some aspects of its search are perceived as inspiring; others, as disappointing. This is what I would like to address in my notes, the notes of an editor of a philosophical journal.
