Abstract

I am delighted to join in commemorating John Wild, a revered teacher and mentor of mine—and so many others—at a crucial point in the early reception of continental philosophy in America. In the following brief remarks, I will proceed in a largely autobiographical manner, occasionally pausing to make more general points.
